Beneath the rugged beauty of the Karoo lies a secret – a strong salt vein running deep below the earth. Long ago, where this vein came closest to the surface, a bustling salt mine stood. It was a place of hard work and hope, bringing life to the land and drawing people from far and wide during a time of challenge and opportunity.
Though the mine is now silent, its weathered structures remain – quiet witnesses of the past, whispering stories of the people who once walked this land.
Today, Soutaar Guest Farm carries that same spirit of resilience and connection. For five generations, our family has called this farm home. Although we are a self-catering establishment, we are also able to cater should guests prefer meals prepared for them. To us, it’s far more than land – it’s where we live, grow, pray, and dream together. It’s where our roots run deep, just like the salt vein beneath us.
